Muslims in the U.S. are fighting an uphill battle to convince Americans that they are not a hotbed for terrorists. They have an organization that is like a "Union of Muslims" and it's called "The Council on American Islamic Relations" or CAIR, but time and again, it is proved that this organization is itself composed of people connected to Islamic terror. I don't mean I think that, I mean a court of law has convicted members of CAIR for terror related crimes.
The most recent case was Feb 19, 2010 when a Dallas immigration judge ordered one of CAIR's former board members deported due to terror connections. (DFW News). Nabil Sadoun, a leader in the Dallas Islamic community, had already left the United States for his native Jordan at the time of the ruling and Judge Anthony Rogers said that by taking such action he had waived his right to appeal the case.

In a dazzling display of ignorance of the science of statistics, the Vatican said that in 2008, there were 1,166,000,000 Catholics in the world. They obviously don't know about statistical errors and measures of confidence since none of these were mentioned. I would believe 1.2 billion, but not 1.166 billion.
However, that aside they also gave the following numbers:
Morality taught by Jesus the teacher - not god

Many people believe that morality comes from their god. If you ask a Christian why he thinks that, he might quote Matt: 7:12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them... (The Golden Rule). Unfortunately, this was not first said by Jesus. In the bible it first appears in the violent, cruel old testament in Leviticus 19:18, but it also appears in other religions. Confucius said in about 500 BCE "What you do not want others to do to you, do not do to others"; Isocrates said in about 375 BCE "Do not do to others what would anger you if done to you by others"; Hindus and others have also said the same in earlier times. It was not invented by the founder of Christianity, but copied.
Similarly the idea of "love your enemies" and "turn the other cheek" did not originate with Jesus - it came from Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism and others at about the same time. This was an idea being developed by thinkers at the time.

We are repeatedly told that there is no political problem with Islam because it is a religion of peace despite all the turmoil and terrorism that comes from Muslims. We are told "that's just the few fanatics - that's not the mainstream." Really? Even if that is true, it's the extremists, the fanatics, that cause all the problems and that's who we should be focusing on. This point was very well made by a blog written in February of 2006 by Paul E. Marek, a second-generation Canadian, whose grandparents fled Czechoslovakia just prior to the Nazi takeover. Although it has been published elsewhere, it needs to be published again, so here it is:
# I used to know a man whose family were German aristocracy prior to World War Two. They owned a number of large industries and estates. I asked him how many German people were true Nazis, and the answer he gave has stuck with me and guided my attitude toward fanaticism ever since.

The word "Saint" has become part of secular language - it's common to say: "he/she is a saint". We don't mean that the person can perform a miracle, it usually means that they go above and beyond the usually expected good ethics. So it's quite possible to have an atheist saint! But when the Catholic Church declares that someone is an official "Saint", they mean that they can be prayed to and will intercede with the Catholic God to cause a miraculous event. This declaration is only done after a process (usually long) that finds miracles that they feel can be attributed to intercession from the particular Saint.

With the dismissal of Girta Saghal from her position as head of the "gender unit", Amnesty International shows support for actions of Moazzem Begg who openly supports the Taliban and their actions. Amnesty International supports the principle that individuals should not be imprisoned for expressing their beliefs nor should prisoners be tortured. They therefore supported Moazzem Begg when he was tortured in Guantanamo Bay but some Amnesty people further supported his cause, "Cageprisoners". Because she spoke out against this overstepping the boundaries, Girta Saghal has been fired.

In Quebec, 37-year-old Said Namouh plotted to carry out jihadist attacks against targets in western Europe but has now been sentenced to life imprisonment. Quebec court Judge Claude Leblond ruled that Namouh lied to the court about his intentions to hurt other people and has little remorse for his intended actions. Namouh also was involved with the Global Islamic Media Front, an organization recognized by the court as a terrorist group that has been described as the media wing of al Qaeda. The group is involved in jihad recruitment and with propaganda. Namouh was also shown to have spent hours on jihad forums and preparing propaganda videos. While Canadian terror suspects in other cases have seen the error of their ways, Leblond said it was clear that Namouh tried to cover up the extent of his beliefs in court.

A conference held in Stouffville (near Toronto) on Sunday Feb 15, featured speakers who showed Iran and Islam at its worst. They intended to defend but instead they made it clear that Iran is a theocracy with a perverted view of the world. According to a report in the National Post, speakers accused the media of inventing "fraudulent" news to "increase false national expectation" and "encourage disturbance" - this according to the cultural attaché in the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hamid Mohammadi said media deception has caused hatred and fear of Muslims by presenting the "false belief that religion is incapable of running a country" and that Iran is therefore illegitimate. He said the result has been political "position changing" by Western countries against Muslims.
